Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Pineapple juice
  • 0.5 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1.5 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sesame oil (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, and rice vinegar.

Step 2

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves, then add them to the saucepan.

Step 3

Peel and grate the ginger (or use pre-minced ginger) and stir it into the mixture.

Step 4

Heat the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture begins to simmer.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water together to form a slurry.

Step 6

Gradually whisk the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce to thicken it. Continue stirring to avoid lumps.

Step 7

Simmer the sauce for an additional 2-3 minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.

Step 8

Remove the sauce from heat. If desired, stir in sesame oil for extra flavor.

Step 9

Allow the sauce to cool slightly before using. Serve it warm or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
