Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets (thawed)
  • 8 ounces Cream cheese (softened)
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Canned crushed pineapple (drained)
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 0.5 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Milk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares, yielding 8 squares total.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Step 4

In a small saucepan, combine the drained crushed pineapple, cornstarch, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let cool.

Step 5

Place a tablespoon-sized dollop of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each puff pastry square, followed by a tablespoon of the cooled pineapple mixture.

Step 6

Fold two opposite corners of the pastry square over the filling to meet in the center. Gently press down to secure.

Step 7

In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush the egg wash over the exposed areas of the puff pastry.

Step 8

Transfer the prepared danish pastries to the baking sheets, spacing them a few inches apart.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 16-18 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed.

Step 10

Allow the danishes to cool slightly on a wire rack.

Step 11

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled pastries before serving.
