  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 liters water

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water, then cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and drain the remaining water.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing for 3-4 minutes until softened and fragrant.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes and allow the sauce to simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust the heat to low if it starts to splatter.
