Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Canola oil
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 0.5 pounds Ground beef
  • 6 ounces Canned tomato paste
  • 1.5 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Molasses
  • 1 tablespoon White vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground clove
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 0.5 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Heat the canola oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the saucepan, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.

Step 5

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to enhance its flavor.

Step 6

Pour in the beef broth, water, and molasses. Stir until combined.

Step 7

Add the white vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, ground clove, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

Step 8

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then lower the heat to medium-low. Cook uncovered for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded together.

Step 9

Remove the sauce from heat and allow it to cool slightly.

Step 10

Use the sauce immediately on your pizza or transfer it to a container and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
