Ingredients

  • 1 pound ribeye steak
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cup mushrooms
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons garlic powder

Directions

Step 1

Place the ribeye steak in the freezer for 30 minutes to firm up. This will make slicing easier.

Step 2

Thinly slice the steak against the grain into very thin strips. Set aside.

Step 3

Slice the green bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms into thin strips.

Step 4

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Add the sliced onions and cook for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.

Step 6

Add the green bell pepper and mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté for another 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.

Step 7

Add the remaining olive oil and butter to the skillet, then add the sliced steak. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the steak is browned and cooked through.

Step 8

Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet with the steak and toss to combine.

Step 9

Split the hoagie rolls lengthwise and toast them lightly in a dry skillet or oven for extra crunch.

Step 10

Divide the steak and vegetable mixture evenly among the hoagie rolls.

Step 11

Top each sandwich with 1-2 slices of provolone cheese.

Step 12

Place the sandwiches under a broiler for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 13

Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as fries or a salad.
