Ingredients

  • 0.5 pound ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 20 pieces wonton wrappers
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups bok choy, chopped
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon white pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine ground pork, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix until well combined.

Step 2

Lay a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place 1 teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center of the wrapper.

Step 3

Brush the edges of the wrapper with water, fold it into a triangle, and press the edges to seal. Optionally, bring the two bottom corners together to form a 'boat' shape and pinch to seal. Repeat with remaining wonton wrappers and filling.

Step 4

In a large pot, heat the chicken broth over medium heat until it comes to a simmer.

Step 5

Add the sliced shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, and carrots to the pot. Simmer for 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Step 6

Gently add the prepared wontons to the pot, ensuring they have room to move without sticking together. Cook for 4-5 minutes or until the wontons are cooked through and float to the surface.

Step 7

Stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, rice vinegar, salt, and white pepper. Taste the broth and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Step 8

Serve the wonton soup hot, garnished with chopped green onions for added freshness.
