  • 500 grams Garlic
  • 500 milliliters White vinegar
  • 250 grams Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoons Salt
  • 250 milliliters Water
  • 0.5 teaspoons Turmeric (optional, for color)

Directions

Step 1

Peel the garlic cloves and remove any bruised or discolored portions. Rinse them under cold water and set aside.

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the white vinegar, water, granulated sugar, and salt. If using turmeric, add it at this stage for a golden hue.

Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar and salt are completely dissolved. Bring the brine to a gentle simmer, then turn off the heat.

Sterilize a glass jar (approximately 1 liter capacity) by boiling it in water for 10 minutes or washing it in very hot, soapy water and letting it dry completely.
