Ingredients

  • 4 slices Italian bread
  • 12 slices pepperoni slices
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 0.5 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over one side of each slice of bread.

Step 2

Divide the mozzarella cheese evenly between two slices of bread, placing it on top of the sauce-covered sides.

Step 3

Lay 6 pepperoni slices on top of the cheese on each sandwich. Sprinkle a pinch of dried oregano and garlic powder over the toppings. Add crushed red pepper flakes for extra heat, if desired.

Step 4

Place the remaining slices of bread on top of the fillings, sauce side down, to form two sandwiches.

Spread about 1/2 tablespoon of butter on one side of each sandwich.

Spread the remaining butter on the unbuttered side of each sandwich while the first side cooks.
