  • 0.5 teaspoon Peppermint extract
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 1.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 6 tablespoons Butter (for frosting)
  • 0.25 cup Crushed peppermint candies
  • 4 ounces Dark chocolate (for ganache)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (for ganache)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal.

Step 2

In a heatproof bowl, melt the butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips together over a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.

Whisk in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.

Stir in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract.

Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into the wet mixture. Fold gently until just combined; do not overmix.
