Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Coarse ground black pepper
  • 8 pieces Slider buns
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 1 large Yellow onion
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 3 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 8 pieces Pickle slices

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix gently until well combined and divide into 8 equal portions.

Step 2

Shape each portion into small patties, about 2.5 inches in diameter. Press a slight indentation into the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Step 3

Thinly slice the onion. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter with the olive oil. Add the onion slices and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden and caramelized, about 10 minutes. Set aside.

Step 4

Preheat a grill or stovetop griddle to medium-high heat. Season the tops of the patties with the remaining teaspoon of black pepper.

Step 5

Cook the patties for 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip them. Place a half slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the patties are cooked to your desired level of doneness.

Step 6

While the patties are cooking, toast the slider buns lightly on the grill or in a skillet until golden brown.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, and Dijon mustard to make the sauce.

Step 8

To assemble the sliders, spread the sauce on the bottom bun, place the patty with melted cheese on top, add a caramelized onion, a pickle slice, and finish with the top bun.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy these flavorful peppered sliders!
