Ingredients

  • 400 grams penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 400 grams crushed tomatoes
  • 120 ml heavy cream
  • 50 grams Parmesan cheese
  • 10 leaves fresh basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 liters water
  • 1 tablespoon salt for pasta water

Directions

Step 1

Bring 2 liters of water to a boil in a large pot and add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

Step 2

Add the penne pasta to the boiling water and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 10-12 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 3

While the pasta is cooking, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves. Add the garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

Pour the crushed tomatoes into the skillet. Stir to combine and let simmer for 5-7 minutes to thicken slightly.
