  • 0.5 cup Vodka
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for garnish
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh basil leaves, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes, until softened and translucent.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
