  • 28 oz Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 0.5 cup Vodka
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1 cup of the pasta cooking water.

Step 2

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the diced onions and sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened and translucent.

Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring frequently, to release their aromas.
