Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 8 oz Cream cheese
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 large Egg yolk
  • 1 tsp Fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tbsp Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, egg yolk, and lemon juice. Beat until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

Step 3

Roll out the puff pastry sheets onto a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares, giving you a total of 8 squares.

Step 4

Lightly score an edge around each square about 1/2 inch from the edge, being careful not to cut through the pastry. This will help the edges rise during baking.

Step 5

Place about 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square, spreading it out evenly but avoiding the scored edges.

Step 6

In a small bowl, beat together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush the edges of each pastry square with the egg wash.

Step 7

Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheet, leaving at least 1-2 inches between each one.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 16-18 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and puffed.

Step 9

While the pastries bake, prepare the glaze by whisking the powdered sugar and milk together in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.

Step 10

Once the pastries are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before drizzling the glaze over the top.

Step 11

Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy!
