Ingredients

  • 170 grams Unsalted butter (for blondies)
  • 200 grams Light brown sugar, packed
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 180 grams All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 100 grams Pecans, chopped
  • 113 grams Unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 150 grams Confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 30 grams Pecans, finely chopped (optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

Melt 170 grams of unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the butter starts to brown and emit a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large bowl, whisk together the light brown sugar and granulated sugar with the browned butter until combined.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until no flour streaks remain.

Step 6

Fold in the chopped pecans, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Step 7

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Step 8

While the blondies are cooling, prepare the browned butter frosting. Melt 113 grams of unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until it turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.

Step 9

In a medium bowl, whisk together the browned butter, confectioners' sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Add more milk if the frosting is too thick.

Step 10

Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled blondies. Garnish with finely chopped pecans if desired.

Step 11

Allow the frosting to set for about 15 minutes before slicing the blondies into squares. Serve and enjoy!
