Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Cranberries
  • 2 medium Pears (ripe but firm)
  • 0.5 cup Honey
  • 0.5 cup Fresh orange juice
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch Pinch of salt

Directions

Step 1

Rinse and drain the cranberries. Peel, core, and dice the pears into small pieces.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the honey, orange juice, water, and orange zest. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the honey dissolves.

Step 3

Add the cranberries, diced pears, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and a pinch of salt to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

Step 4

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to a simmer.

Step 5

Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens. Mash the cranberries and pears slightly with the back of a spoon for a chunkier texture, or leave it as-is for a smoother texture.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. It will continue to thicken as it cools.

Step 7

Transfer the sauce to a serving dish or airtight container. Serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to one week.
