Ingredients

  • 6 large ripe pears (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter (cold and diced)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced pears, grated ginger, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Toss until the pears are evenly coated. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and set aside.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, oats, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Add the cold, diced butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to combine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the pear filling in the baking dish.

Step 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and bubbling.

Step 6

While the crisp bakes, prepare the spiced whipped cream. In a chilled mixing bowl, whisk the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, ground nutmeg, and ground cinnamon until soft peaks form. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Step 7

Allow the pear and ginger crisp to cool for 5–10 minutes after baking. Serve warm with a generous dollop of spiced whipped cream.
