Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Small red potatoes
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter
  • 2 pieces Zatarain's crab boil seasoning bags
  • 2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 3 gallons Water
  • 2 pounds Smoked sausage (sliced into 1-inch pieces)
  • 6 ears Fresh corn (shucked and cut into halves)
  • 4 pounds Large raw shrimp (shell on, deveined)
  • 3 pieces Lemons (cut into quarters)
  • 1 cup Optional cocktail sauce (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Fill a large stockpot with 3 gallons of water, leaving enough space to prevent overflowing when ingredients are added.

Step 2

Place the pot on high heat and add the Zatarain's crab boil seasoning bags, Old Bay seasoning, butter, and lemon quarters. Bring the water to a rolling boil.

Step 3

Add the red potatoes to the boiling water and cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until they start to become tender.

Step 4

Next, add the smoked sausage slices to the pot and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Step 5

Add the corn halves to the pot and let them cook for another 7-8 minutes.

Step 6

Finally, add the shrimp to the boiling pot and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked.

Step 7

Using a slotted spoon, carefully remove all the ingredients from the pot and transfer them to a large serving platter or spread them out on a newspaper-lined table for a traditional presentation.

Step 8

Serve immediately with optional cocktail sauce and plenty of napkins. Enjoy your Low Country Boil!
