Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Salted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 0.5 cup Whole milk
  • 1 pound Breakfast sausage (uncooked, regular or spicy)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it and set aside.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and cold, cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 3

Slowly add the milk to the flour and butter mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. Do not overwork the dough.

Step 4

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle approximately 1/4-inch thick.

Step 5

Spread the raw breakfast sausage evenly over the entire surface of the dough, pressing it down gently to adhere.

Step 6

Starting at one of the longer edges, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal the roll.

Step 7

Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into approximately 1/2-inch thick rounds.

Step 8

Place the sausage swirls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each swirl.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausage is fully cooked.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
