Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Bread slices
  • 2 pieces Large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Lay your bread slices flat on a cutting board. Use a round cookie cutter or the rim of a drinking glass to cut out a circular hole in the center of each slice. Set aside both the bread slices and the cut-out circles.

Step 2

Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Allow it to melt and coat the pan evenly.

Step 3

Place the bread slices, along with the cut-out circles, in the skillet. Toast gently for about 1-2 minutes on one side until lightly golden.

Step 4

Flip the bread slices and toasted circles to the other side. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet, letting it melt under the bread slices.

Step 5

Crack one egg into each hole in the center of the bread slices.

Step 6

Season each egg with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Step 7

Cover the skillet with a lid to help the egg cook evenly. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the egg whites are set but the yolks remain runny. If you prefer fully cooked yolks, cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Step 8

Carefully remove the bread slices and toasted circles from the skillet and transfer to a serving plate.

Step 9

Serve immediately, using the toasted circles as a delicious dipping companion for the eggs.
