Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup Warm water (110°F)
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup Sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 large Egg

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Step 2

In a saucepan, warm the milk over low heat until it is just warm to the touch. Remove from heat and stir in the butter, sugar, and salt until the butter is melted. Let the mixture cool to lukewarm.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, milk mixture, and the egg. Mix well.

Step 4

Gradually add the flour to the wet ingredients, stirring to form a soft dough. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, until it is manageable.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning it to coat all sides. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Step 7

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a roll and place them on a greased baking sheet or in a lightly greased baking dish, spaced slightly apart.

Step 8

Cover the rolls with the towel again and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes, or until they double in size.

Step 9

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 10

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.

Step 11

Remove the rolls from the oven and brush them with melted butter for an extra touch of flavor. Serve warm and enjoy!
