Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lump crab meat
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.25 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream
  • 0.25 cup Mayonnaise (for sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons Dill, fresh and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice (for sauce)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the lump crab meat, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

Step 2

Add the Panko breadcrumbs to the crab mixture. Mix gently, ensuring all ingredients are combined without breaking up the crab meat too much.

Step 3

Form the crab mixture into 8 equal-sized patties, about 3 inches in diameter. Place them on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them set.

Step 4

While the crab cakes chill, make the lemon dill sauce by whisking together sour cream, mayonnaise, fresh chopped dill, lemon juice, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Step 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chilled crab cakes to the skillet.

Step 6

Cook the crab cakes for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through. Be careful when flipping, as they may be delicate.

Step 7

Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Step 8

Serve the crab cakes warm with a generous dollop of lemon dill sauce on top or on the side. Garnish with additional fresh dill or lemon wedges if desired.
