Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 cup Sliced mushrooms
  • 0.5 cup Chopped onion
  • 4 pieces Swiss cheese slices

Directions

Step 1

Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Step 2

In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for 6-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and fully cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and let it melt.

Step 5

Add the sliced mushrooms and chopped onion to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes or until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized.

Step 6

Return the chicken to the skillet, placing it on top of the mushroom and onion mixture.

Step 7

Lay a slice of Swiss cheese over each chicken breast. Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce the heat to low.

Step 8

Cook for another 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted completely.

Step 9

Serve immediately, spooning the mushroom and onion mixture over the chicken for added flavor.
