Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 Hamburger buns
  • 4 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 4 tbsp Ketchup
  • 8 Dill pickles (slices)
  • 4 Lettuce leaves
  • 4 Tomato slices
  • 4 Red onion slices
  • 2 tbsp Butter

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties, slightly larger in diameter than the hamburger buns as they will shrink during cooking.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until a crust forms. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 4

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt. Cover the pan with a lid to help the cheese melt faster, if desired.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, toast the hamburger buns. Spread butter on the inner sides of the buns and place them on a skillet or grill pan over medium heat until golden brown and lightly crisp.

Step 6

Assemble the burgers: Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun and 1 tablespoon of ketchup on the top half.

Step 7

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the cheese-topped burger patty, a slice of tomato, a slice of red onion, and 2 dill pickle slices.

Step 8

Top with the upper bun and serve immediately with your favorite side dish, such as fries or coleslaw. Enjoy!
