Ingredients

  • 12 ounces spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 14.5 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 2

Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and toss with 2 tablespoons of butter. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for an additional 5 minutes or until the onion is softened.

Step 4

Stir in the marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes.

Step 5

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and Parmesan cheese. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Step 6

Place half of the cooked spaghetti in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the spaghetti layer.

Step 7

Top the cream cheese layer with the remaining spaghetti, followed by the meat sauce. Spread everything out so it is evenly distributed.

Step 8

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the casserole.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 10

Remove the baked spaghetti from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
