Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 8 ounces Angel hair pasta
  • 1 cup Chopped onion
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic
  • 0.5 teaspoon Crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 cups Paul Newman's marinara sauce (or any high-quality marinara sauce)
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup Fresh basil leaves
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

Step 1

Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

Step 2

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Cook the angel hair pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet used for the chicken, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the chopped onion for 3-4 minutes, until soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Step 5

Pour in the marinara sauce and stir well. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Let it cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Step 6

Slice the cooked chicken into thin strips and add it back to the skillet with the sauce. Cook for 3-4 minutes to heat through.

Step 7

Plate the cooked angel hair pasta and spoon the spicy chicken and sauce mixture over the top.

Step 8

Garnish with fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
