Ingredients

  • 6 whole Roma tomatoes
  • 1 medium Red onion
  • 1 whole Jalapeño pepper
  • 1 small bunch Cilantro
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the Roma tomatoes thoroughly, then dice them into small cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.

Step 2

Peel and finely chop the red onion. Add it to the tomatoes in the bowl.

Step 3

Trim the stem from the jalapeño pepper, then dice it finely. If you prefer less heat, remove the seeds and membranes before chopping. Add the jalapeño to the bowl.

Step 4

Wash and finely chop the cilantro leaves. Discard the thicker stems. Add the chopped cilantro to the mix.

Step 5

Peel and mince the garlic cloves, then stir them into the bowl.

Step 6

Squeeze fresh lime juice over the salsa mixture. Start with 2 tablespoons, but you can add more if you prefer a tangier taste.

Step 7

Sprinkle in the salt and ground black pepper. Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.

Step 8

Taste the salsa and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt, pepper, or lime juice as desired.

Step 9

Cover the bowl and let the salsa sit for at least 10 minutes at room temperature to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 10

Serve the salsa fresh with tortilla chips, or use it as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled dishes.
