Ingredients

  • 500 grams Mascarpone cheese
  • 4 large Egg yolks
  • 100 grams Granulated sugar
  • 240 ml Heavy cream
  • 240 ml Espresso or strong coffee
  • 2 tablespoons Coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 200 grams Savoiardi (ladyfingers)
  • 1 tablespoon Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 20 grams Dark chocolate (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar together until the mixture is pale and creamy.

Step 2

Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and gently fold it in until smooth and well combined.

Step 3

In a separate mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture to create a light, creamy filling.

Step 4

Prepare the coffee mixture by combining the cooled espresso (or strong coffee) with the coffee liqueur, if using, in a shallow bowl.

Step 5

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not falling apart.

Step 6

In a 9x9-inch dish (or a similar-sized container), layer half of the soaked ladyfingers to create an even base.

Step 7

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfinger layer, smoothing it with a spatula.

Step 8

Repeat the process with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture to create two layers.

Step 9

Chill the tiramisu in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the texture to set.

Step 10

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu generously with unsweetened cocoa powder using a fine sieve. Optionally, grate dark chocolate over the top for extra decadence.

Step 11

Slice and serve chilled. Enjoy!
