Ingredients

  • 300 grams penne pasta
  • 250 grams Italian sausage (casing removed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 pieces garlic cloves (minced)
  • 250 grams cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 200 milliliters heavy cream
  • 50 grams grated Parmesan cheese
  • 10 grams fresh basil leaves (chopped)
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • 0 to taste salt
  • 0 to taste black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining and set the pasta aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through.

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent burning.

Stir in the cherry tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes until they soften and release their juices.
