Ingredients

  • 200 grams whole-grain pasta (penne or fusilli preferred)
  • 1 medium carrot, finely diced
  • 1 small zucchini, finely diced
  • 50 grams broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 250 milliliters whole milk
  • 20 grams grated Parmesan cheese (optional for babies under 12 months)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt (optional for adults)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the whole-grain pasta and cook according to the package instructions (usually around 10-12 minutes) until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

While the pasta cooks, heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat. Add the diced carrots, zucchini, and broccoli florets to the pan. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 3

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour to form a smooth paste. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Step 4

Gradually add the milk to the flour mixture, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens to a creamy consistency. Remove from heat.

Step 5

If desired, stir in the grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce for added flavor. Avoid adding salt for babies under 12 months.

Step 6

Combine the cooked pasta, sautéed vegetables, and creamy sauce in a large bowl. Mix well to coat the pasta evenly.

Step 7

Serve warm. Optionally, adults can season with additional salt or herbs if preferred.
