  • 12 pieces Lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 pound Ground Italian sausage
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces Tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons Dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons Dried oregano
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 16 ounces Ricotta cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and lay them flat on a baking sheet to prevent sticking.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes, until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

Step 4

Add the ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.

Step 5

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer, reduce heat to low, and let it cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan, and chopped parsley. Mix until well blended.

To assemble the lasagna, spread 1 cup of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping them. Spread one-third of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by one-third of the shredded mozzarella. Repeat the layering twice more, finishing with a layer of mozzarella cheese on top.

Step 8

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (spray the underside of the foil with cooking spray to prevent sticking) and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Step 9

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and lightly golden.
