In a large mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk, stirring until the breadcrumbs absorb the liquid. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
Add the ground beef, egg, salt, black pepper, and allspice to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix thoroughly until all the ingredients are well combined.
Shape the mixture into 8 evenly sized patties, about 1.5 cm thick. Set them aside on a plate.
Slice the yellow onions thinly into rings.
Heat 15 grams of butter and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion slices and a pinch of salt, then sauté for 10-12 minutes until they are soft and golden brown. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, heat the remaining butter and oil over medium heat. Add the meat patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and browned. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
Deglaze the skillet by adding the water, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Let the liquid simmer for 2-3 minutes to form a light pan sauce.
Return the cooked onions and patties to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over the top. Let them warm for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Serve the Pannbiff Med Lök warm, along with mashed potatoes, lingonberry jam, or pickled cucumbers for a traditional Swedish meal.
