Ingredients

  • 250 grams Paneer
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 large, finely chopped Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 finely chopped Green chili
  • 2 medium, pureed Tomatoes
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon or to taste Salt
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons, chopped Cilantro

Directions

Step 1

Cut the paneer into cubes and set aside.

Step 2

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat.

Step 3

Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds until aromatic.

Step 4

Add 1 large finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.

Step 5

Mix in 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste and 1 finely chopped green chili. Sauté for about 2 minutes until the raw aroma disappears.

Add 2 medium pureed tomatoes to the pan, stir well, and cook for 3-4 minutes until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.

Sprinkle 0.5 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of coriander powder, 0.5 teaspoon of red chili powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt or to taste. Stir the spices into the mixture and cook for another 2 minutes.

Pour in 0.5 cup of water, stir well, and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.

Add the paneer cubes to the pan, mixing them well into the sauce. Cover the pan and let it cook for about 5 minutes on low heat.

Uncover the pan, sprinkle 0.5 teaspoon of garam masala, and stir gently to mix the flavors.

Garnish with 2 tablespoons of chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice or Indian bread.
