Ingredients

  • 250 grams Paneer (cottage cheese)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 2 medium Tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 piece Green chili, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cream
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sugar
  • 200 milliliters Water
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Cut the paneer into bite-sized cubes and set aside.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan on medium heat.

Step 3

Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chili. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the pureed tomatoes and cook for 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.

Step 6

Mix in the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 1-2 minutes to release the flavors of the spices.

Step 7

Add the water and sugar, stirring well. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Step 8

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the fresh cream. Simmer for 2 minutes until the gravy is smooth and creamy.

Step 9

Sprinkle the kasuri methi into the sauce, crushing it between your fingers to release its aroma. Stir well.

Step 10

Gently add the paneer cubes and garam masala to the pan. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the paneer to absorb the flavors.

Step 11

Turn off the heat and stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter for a rich, glossy finish.

Step 12

Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

Step 13

Serve hot with naan, roti, or basmati rice for a complete meal.
