Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Beef steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or fillet)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves, smashed
  • 2 sprigs Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • 0.5 cup Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar

Directions

Step 1

Remove the steaks from the refrigerator 30 minutes prior to cooking to bring them to room temperature.

Step 2

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.

Step 4

When the oil is shimmering, carefully place the steaks into the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side without moving them to allow for a golden crust to form.

Flip the steaks and reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter, smashed garlic cloves, and rosemary sprigs to the skillet.

Tilt the skillet slightly to pool the butter, and use a spoon to baste the steaks with the melted butter.
