Remove the steaks from the refrigerator 30 minutes prior to cooking to bring them to room temperature.
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
When the oil is shimmering, carefully place the steaks into the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side without moving them to allow for a golden crust to form.
Flip the steaks and reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter, smashed garlic cloves, and rosemary sprigs to the skillet.
Tilt the skillet slightly to pool the butter, and use a spoon to baste the steaks with the melted butter. Cook for another 3-4 minutes or until the steaks reach your preferred doneness (use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature: 125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium).
Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest, loosely covered with foil, for at least 5 minutes.
While the steaks are resting, make the balsamic glaze. In the same skillet, discard the garlic and rosemary, then add the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar. Stir constantly, scraping the browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
Allow the mixture to simmer for 3-5 minutes or until it thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.
Slice the steaks or serve them whole, drizzling the balsamic glaze generously over the top. Serve immediately and enjoy!
