Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground pork
  • 250 grams Ground chicken
  • 1 medium Carrot, finely grated
  • 3 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 100 grams Water chestnuts, finely diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut aminos
  • 1 tablespoon Fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Five-spice powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Sea salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 12 leaves Cabbage leaves, large
  • 2 tablespoons Avocado oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, ground chicken, grated carrot, chopped green onions, diced water chestnuts, and minced garlic.

Step 2

Add the beaten egg, coconut aminos, fish sauce, five-spice powder, sea salt, and black pepper to the meat mixture. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well combined.

Step 3

Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water for 30 seconds to soften them. Remove the leaves and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.

Step 4

Take a cabbage leaf and place about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture in the center. Shape the mixture into a small log, similar to a sausage. Fold the sides of the cabbage leaf over the filling and roll tightly to seal. Repeat with the remaining filling and cabbage leaves.

Step 5

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the avocado oil. Once hot, carefully place the meat rolls, seam side down, into the skillet.

Step 6

Cook the rolls for 4-5 minutes on each side, turning gently, until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes total.

Step 7

Remove the rolls from the skillet and let them rest for 2-3 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a side of paleo-friendly dipping sauce or a fresh salad.
