Ingredients

  • 1 bunch (about 1 pound) Broccoli rabe
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sea salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 0.25 cup Filtered water

Directions

Step 1

Wash the broccoli rabe thoroughly under cold water. Trim about 1 inch from the ends of the stems and remove any thick, tough stems. Cut the broccoli rabe into approximately 2-inch pieces.

Step 2

In a large sauté pan with a lid, heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until fragrant and lightly golden, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 3

Add the trimmed broccoli rabe to the pan, stirring to combine with the garlic and oil. Pour in the filtered water and sprinkle with sea salt.

Step 4

Cover the pan with a lid and allow the broccoli rabe to steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the leaves are tender and vibrant green, and the stems are slightly softened.

Step 5

Remove the lid and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to allow any remaining water to evaporate. Stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, fresh lemon juice, and optional crushed red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.

Step 6

Transfer the broccoli rabe to a serving dish. Taste and adjust seasoning with a pinch more sea salt or lemon juice if desired. Serve warm.
