Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground beef or lamb
  • 200 grams Sweet potato
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 1 inch piece Ginger
  • 0.5 bunch Fresh cilantro
  • 0.25 cup Fresh mint leaves
  • 2 Green chilies
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 tablespoons Coconut oil

Directions

Step 1

Peel and chop the sweet potato into small cubes. Boil in water until soft, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and leave to cool.

Step 2

Grate the ginger, chop the onion finely, and mince the garlic.

Step 3

In a food processor, combine the cooked sweet potato, ground meat, onion, garlic, ginger, cilantro, mint, and green chilies. Pulse until well combined but not too smooth.

Step 4

Add ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, salt, black pepper, and the egg to the mixture. Process briefly to incorporate the spices.

Step 5

Form the mixture into small patties, about the size of your palm, and 1/2 inch thick.

Step 6

Heat coconut oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.

Step 7

Once the oil is hot, add the kababs in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook on each side for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Step 8

Transfer the cooked kababs to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Step 9

Serve the Paleo Shami Kababs hot with a side of fresh salad or your preferred dipping sauce.
