Ingredients

  • 1 pound grass-fed ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons coconut aminos
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces crimini mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 slices paleo-friendly Swiss cheese
  • 4 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 1 large avocado
  • 1 large tomato

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, coconut aminos, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to combine.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and form each into a patty approximately 3/4-inch thick.

Step 3

Clean and slice the crimini mushrooms into thin, even pieces.

Step 4

Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a skillet over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and sprinkle with onion powder, cooking until they are tender and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove mushrooms from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of ghee over medium heat. Place the beef patties in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, until a crust forms.

Step 6

Flip the patties, then place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty. Cover the skillet with a lid to allow the cheese to melt, cooking for another 4-5 minutes, until the desired doneness is reached.

Step 7

While the burgers are cooking, prepare the toppings. Slice the avocado and tomato into thin slices.

Step 8

Once the burgers are finished cooking, assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a large lettuce leaf. Top with sautéed mushrooms, avocado slices, and tomato slices. Optionally, add a second lettuce leaf to wrap the burger more securely.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy your paleo-friendly Mushroom Swiss Hamburger!
