Ingredients

  • 2 cups Almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut flour
  • 2 tablespoons Arrowroot flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 0.25 cup Coconut oil
  • 0.25 cup Raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup Raisins
  • 1 tablespoon Zest of an orange
  • 0.25 cup Coconut butter

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the almond flour, coconut flour, arrowroot flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground cloves. Mix well.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted coconut oil, honey, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.

Step 5

Fold in the raisins and orange zest, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Step 6

Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each into a round bun, placing them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 7

Flatten each bun slightly with your palm to create a uniform shape.

Step 8

Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 9

Remove the buns from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet.

Step 10

While the buns are cooling, gently heat the coconut butter until it reaches a liquid state. Using a small piping bag or a ziplock bag with a tiny hole cut in the corner, pipe crosses onto each bun.

Step 11

Allow the coconut butter to set before serving. Enjoy your paleo hot cross buns!
