Ingredients

  • 3 pounds pork baby back ribs
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 1 cup coconut aminos
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and coconut sugar.

Step 3

Pat the ribs dry with paper towels. Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs if it hasn't been removed already.

Step 4

Rub the spice mixture generously over both sides of the ribs.

Step 5

Wrap the ribs tightly in foil and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender.

Step 7

While the ribs are baking, prepare the barbecue sauce. In a medium saucepan, mix coconut aminos, apple cider vinegar, tomato paste, honey, and mustard powder.

Step 8

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, or until slightly thickened.

Step 9

Once the ribs are cooked, remove them from the oven and carefully unwrap them.

Step 10

Brush the ribs generously with the prepared barbecue sauce.

Step 11

Optional: Preheat a grill to medium-high heat and grill the ribs for 5-10 minutes, brushing with more sauce, until caramelized and charred in spots.

Step 12

Remove the ribs from the grill, let them rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve with remaining barbecue sauce.
