Ingredients

  • 1 pound Skirt steak
  • 2 tablespoons Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sea salt
  • 8 leaves Butter lettuce leaves
  • 0.5 Red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 Avocado, diced
  • 0.25 cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 0.5 cup Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 Fresh lime wedges

Directions

Step 1

Place the skirt steak in a shallow dish or a zip-lock bag.

Step 2

In a blender or food processor, combine chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, lime juice, olive oil, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground black pepper, and sea salt. Blend until smooth to create the marinade.

Step 3

Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it's well coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.

Step 4

Preheat your grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Remove the steak from the marinade and discard any leftover marinade.

Step 6

Grill the steak for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side or until the desired doneness is achieved.

Step 7

Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.

Step 8

Arrange the butter lettuce leaves on a platter to form taco 'shells'.

Step 9

Place the sliced steak into each lettuce leaf.

Step 10

Top with thin slices of red onion, diced avocado, cherry tomatoes, and chopped cilantro.

Step 11

Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for drizzling over the taco for extra zing.
