Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless chicken thighs
  • 0.25 cup coconut aminos
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger
  • 2 sticks green onions
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 8 pieces bamboo skewers

Directions

Step 1

Begin by soaking the bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill.

Step 2

Cut the boneless chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces, about 1 inch cubes.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine the coconut aminos, honey, apple cider vinegar, toasted sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated fresh ginger. Whisk these ingredients together until well mixed.

Step 4

Place the chicken pieces in a shallow dish or a ziplock bag. Pour half of the marinade over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated. Reserve the other half of the marinade for basting. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prep the grill.

Step 5

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Step 6

Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the soaked bamboo skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.

Step 7

Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, basting occasionally with the reserved marinade, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.

Step 8

While grilling, slice the green onions into thin rounds.

Step 9

Once the chicken is cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and sprinkle them with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish.

Step 10

Serve the Paleo Chicken Yakitori immediately while hot, enjoying the delicious blend of sweet and savory flavors.
