Ingredients

  • 4 fillets White fish fillets (such as cod, haddock, or pollock)
  • 1 cup Tapioca flour
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut flour
  • 1 cup Paleo-friendly beer substitute (such as kombucha or sparkling water)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 cups Coconut oil (for frying)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the tapioca flour, coconut flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and paleo-friendly beer substitute until well combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until the batter has a smooth consistency. It should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Step 5

Heat the coconut oil in a large pan over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). You'll know it's ready when a small piece of batter dropped into the oil begins to fry immediately.

Step 6

Dip each fish fillet into the batter, ensuring it's completely covered, and carefully place it into the hot oil.

Step 7

Fry the fish for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the batter is golden brown and the fish is cooked through.

Step 8

Remove the fish from the oil and transfer it to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 9

Serve the fish immediately, garnished with lemon wedges and fresh herbs if desired.
