Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 egg
  • 30 grams almond flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 150 grams mushrooms
  • 240 milliliters beef broth
  • 15 grams tapioca starch
  • 2 tablespoons coconut aminos
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme

Directions

Step 1

Finely chop the onion and place half in a large mixing bowl, setting aside the other half for later use.

Step 2

In the mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, egg, almond flour, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly using your hands until well combined.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.

Step 4

In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Once hot, add the beef patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

For the gravy, slice the mushrooms thinly. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of coconut oil. Add the reserved chopped onion and sliced mushrooms, cooking for about 5 minutes or until softened.

Pour in the beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Stir in the coconut aminos and fresh thyme.

In a small bowl, mix the tapioca starch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the skillet, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens, about 2-3 minutes.

Return the beef patties to the skillet, covering them with the mushroom gravy. Simmer for another 2 minutes to warm through.
