Ingredients

  • 1 kg Chicken (bone-in or boneless, skinless)
  • 4 tablespoons Oil
  • 2 medium Onion (finely sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic paste
  • 3 medium Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 4 pieces Green chilies (slit)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 1 cup Yogurt (whisked)
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Heat the oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat.

Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown, approximately 8–10 minutes.

Add the ginger and garlic pastes, and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and the oil begins to separate, about 5–7 minutes.

Add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Stir well to combine the spices with the tomato mixture.
