Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 3 whole habanero peppers
  • 3 whole garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with olive oil.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated. Set aside.

Step 3

Spread the wings out evenly on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.

Step 4

While the wings are baking, prepare the habanero glaze. Start by removing the stems from the habanero peppers and finely chopping them. Be cautious when handling habaneros; wear gloves if necessary to avoid skin irritation.

Step 5

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped habanero peppers and minced garlic, cooking for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 6

Stir in the honey, lime juice, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Simmer the mixture for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

Step 7

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the glaze to cool for a minute or two.

Step 8

Once the wings are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the habanero glaze over the wings and gently toss until they are evenly coated.

Step 9

Garnish the wings with freshly chopped cilantro for a burst of freshness. Serve immediately with extra napkins, as these wings are guaranteed to be messy and spicy!
