Ingredients

  • 2 racks baby back ribs
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

Step 2

Remove the membrane from the back of each rack of ribs by gently sliding a knife under the edge and peeling it off. This step is optional but helps the ribs become more tender.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix together kosher salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and brown sugar to create the dry rub.

Step 4

Rub the ribs evenly with the olive oil to help the seasoning stick. Then generously coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub, pressing it into the meat.

Step 5

Place the ribs on a large sheet of aluminum foil, bone-side down. Drizzle the apple cider vinegar over the top of the ribs for added moisture and tangy flavor.

Step 6

Wrap the ribs tightly in the foil, sealing all edges to create a packet. Place the foil-wrapped ribs on a baking sheet.

Step 7

Bake in the oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are fork-tender.

Step 8

Carefully remove the ribs from the oven and unwrap the foil, discarding any accumulated juices. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).

Step 9

Brush a generous layer of barbecue sauce over the top of the ribs.

Step 10

Place the ribs back on the baking sheet and return them to the oven, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce becomes sticky and begins to caramelize.

Step 11

Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing into individual ribs.

Step 12

Serve hot with extra barbecue sauce on the side, and enjoy!
