Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish and set aside.
Peel and thinly slice the yellow onions. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 4 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
Add the onions to the skillet and sauté for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are deeply golden and caramelized. Reduce the heat as needed to prevent burning.
