Ingredients

  • 16 oz Elbow macaroni
  • 16 oz Velveeta cheese
  • 1 cup (shredded) Sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 0.5 tsp Ground white pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 8 cups (for boiling pasta) Water

Directions

Step 1

Bring 8 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. Add a generous pinch of salt and cook the elbow macaroni according to the package directions until al dente (approximately 8-10 minutes). Drain the pasta and set it aside.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the cubed Velveeta cheese, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, heavy cream, and whole milk. Heat over low to medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until all the cheese has melted and the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. Be careful not to let the cheese sauce scorch.

Step 3

Stir the butter, ground white pepper, and salt into the cheese sauce. Adjust seasoning to taste if necessary.

Step 4

In the large pot where you cooked the macaroni, combine the drained pasta and the cheese sauce. Toss gently to ensure all the pasta is evenly coated in the sauce.

Step 5

Transfer the macaroni and cheese to a serving dish. Optionally, garnish with a sprinkling of extra shredded cheddar cheese or a pinch of parsley for added flair.

Step 6

Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Outback Steakhouse-inspired Mac a Roo Cheese!
